We want to thank our incredible community for not hesitating to help make our OPAS pets more comfortable during the ice storm!
Like most of the parish, the shelter also lost power, so the new generators were essential in providing a means to run the heat lamps and warming beds, as well as heating the cat house!
Many dogs went to amazing fosters, who opened their homes to pets that otherwise would have had to weather the storm. Some were adopted as a result! The reduced number of pets made it easier for the Staff to focus on the remaining pets.
Next year, we should be in our new shelter, so cries for help to keep the animals from freezing will be a thing of the past!
